The bystander effect is a social phenomenon where people are less likely to help a victim while others are around. One of the main reasons of this is diffusion of responsibility, assuming that someone else will take the responsibility instead.

The Bystander Effect is specific to victims, in particular human victims, however the same concept can be applied to humans helping the environment, who is a victim everyday. We can go online and see all of our fellow advocates of the earth taking steps to make changes and assume that the work is being taken care of.

Although there are so many AMAZING people out there doing their best work, we need EVERYONE to take steps to make a change. 7 billion people could all make one simple change and make an enormous impact on the issue today.

What can you do to make a change today to help the environment?
